New Kitchen Drawings & Granite!

Hubby & I received drawings of our kitchen from our Design Studio consultant this week, which was really cool! We recently decided to expand our island, but hadn't been able to see exactly how big it would be, so it was really good to get to see that too.We kept the height the same, but the length is now 8 feet and the width is now 5 feet. From what we can tell from the drawing, it's gonna look chic!

This is what she sent us:

Today we also went to look at granite slabs because it was hard to tell what it looked like from the 1 ft x 1 ft samples the designer showed us (plus, each of the several samples of our granite looked completely different because of all the inherent natural variation). At the granite store we went to on Glenwood, this is the only slab of our granite, Colonial Gold, they had on site.

We both thought it was a little more orange than the samples we were presented when we chose it. Here are some other pictures of Colonial Gold. You can see how much variation there is even between these, which I know is typical of granite since its a natural material, but damn. It feels a little unpredictable.

We prefer the less orange-y ones and like the big patterns a lot. Fingers crossed that that's what we get, because it kinda feels like a crap shoot. :)
