Fabulous Media Rooms!

Since I found some fun pieces for our media room this week on sale at a store here in Raleigh, I thought it would be fun to do a post of great media rooms in other people's houses. But first, here is what we're planning for our own in-home theater.

Since our room is only 14 feet long, we will only have room for two rows of seats. These are the Baxton home theater seats we like best so far. We like them because they individually recline and have cup holders! Plus, they're relatively inexpensive.

We're planning on red velvet curtains in the front of the room on either side of the screen with big, gold tassels. We want them to go from ceiling to floor. Here's a less glam version of what we're planning on:

Here are the two pieces I bought this week for our media room. The Theater Room sign will go over the door to the room and the ticket will probably go next to the door. Inside we plan on keeping it simple with red paint, some trim work and three movie posters from our favorite movies on either side. I'm looking for Legally Blonde, Pochahontas and Titanic posters on my side. Ross wants Batman: The Dark Night, Braveheart and 300 for his side. Aren't these cute?

Enough about our media room, which won't be up and running until the house is finished in November or December. Here are some beautiful, already built media rooms!

I love these colors! This is the most analogous of these pictures to our own planned color scheme.

The red media chairs are so chic! I wonder where they got these.

I really like this trim work and these sconces.

This gold and red wallpaper is gorg! I also love the coffered ceiling!

This eat-in bar in a media room is a fabulous idea! I don't know about the ceiling fan though...

Similar colors to the above pictured room, but  more traditional in design.

Thanks for looking, barbies!

  1. I’m definitely digging those leather-covered lazy boys! I would want to have those in my own home cinema. This is why I love media rooms. You have all the benefits of commercial cinemas (wide screen, high-res TV, Dolby digital surround sound) at the comfort of your own home. No seat is a bad seat in your own media room!

  2. I was wondering where you got the Admit One ticket sign?
